I would go to the library block party because there would be live music. I love hearing different artists perform and show us what music is to them. Also I would like to fight for equality in american sports too. Equality should not be something we fight for, it should just be a known thing that everyone does.
Long Response:

Read the article on page B1 "Texas faces challenge to boost straight-to-college rate. Please answer the following questions:

1. What percentage of Texas high school students directly enroll in college (2016)?
The percentage of Texas high school students that directly enrolled in college were 52%. This is because a lot of students wait to go to college which is harder than just diving into college and working hard. When you lose a year of discipline from school it gets ten times harder to get back into the swing of school work.
2. What percentage of Texas high school students should be enrolling by 2030, according to the article? At least 60% of Texas high school students will be enrolling into college in 2030. This percentage also consists of older students who did not go to college immediately.
3. What is the impact on students who do not enroll directly into college, according to the article?
The impact on students is that they will most likely never get a degree if they do not immediately go to college after high school. The students who skip a year lose that useful knowledge from high school since they are focused on making money or other things in life.
4. What two states did the story mention who have a higher percentage enrolling directly?
The article mentioned Massachusetts with a whopping 70% and California with 60% of students going to college after high school. This shows that other states have successfully made a change to get the higher percentage of students enrolling into college.
5. What is one plan that the Higher Education Commissioner  Raymund Paredes hopes to push through the state legislature? One plan that Raymund Paredes hopes to push is that eat high school gets 500 dollars for each student that graduates. Also if a student who is in poverty that graduates the school gets 1,000 dollars for getting them through high school.
6. Reflect on this story:
a. Is college that important?

College is very important because it is getting you ready for the business that you want to work when you are older. It also keeps your brain thinking and stretches it a little farther. College can teach you special life skills too. Some graduates from high school learn how to live alone and manage money on their own.
b. Do you plan to enroll directly into college?

I plan to directly enroll in college if that mean in Texas or out of Texas. Schools in Austin have a very high bar that you have to reach to be able to make it into the college. I personally do not think I am going to reach that high of a bar in high school.
c. Is the push to get more students into college impacting other areas of society?

More students that go to college get us a smarter society with people who specialize in their job. This could unite the society and we would have smarter leaders and smarter citizens.
d. Do you think it is possible to have a comfortable life without a college degree?

I do not think it is possible to make a lot of money without a college degree. I know if I do not get a college degree I will not be comfortable with any job that I am in. I feel that there would always be something that I would have to pay off. Overall, you should get a college degree even if that means community college.
e. Are workforce certifications and opportunities equally as important in society, i.e. military, postal service, some medical positions like dental hygienists, commercial pilots, detectives, etc.?

Workforce certifications are way harder to get because that usually means more college and harder training. When I say the word training I mean physically or mentally. To become most of the jobs listed above you need to be extremely specialized in their position.
f. Have you considered potential jobs that do not require a college degree?

I have considered the jobs that do not require college, but I feel like that is the personal easy way out. I do not want to cut corners because I want to become a teacher and teach kids with special needs. In some places kids with special needs are bullied or put down and I will make sure that it does not happen in the school that I have. I will care for these kids like they are my own children and I will help them succeed.
